Dwarf Hass avocado is a climacteric fruit, which matures on the tree, but ripens off the tree, they can produce fruit independently without the need for cross-pollination from another tree, these avocados thrive in subtropical climates.

The Hass avocado is one of the most popular and commercially grown avocado varieties worldwide. Dwarf Hass trees produce the same delicious, creamy-textured fruit as standard-sized trees. Hass avocados are known for their rich flavour and creamy texture, making them a favourite for salads, sandwiches, and guacamole.

Position: The Hass avo tree likes plenty of sunshine and rain, and prefers to be sheltered from the wind, as far as possible.

Soil: Dwarf Hass avocado trees require well-drained soil and regular watering, especially during hot, dry periods. They prefer full sun but can tolerate partial shade. Pruning may be necessary to maintain their compact size and shape.

Size: Dwarf Hass avocado trees reach a height of about 2m when fully grown. This makes them suitable for smaller yards or growing in containers on patios or balconies.

Mulch – Because the avo tree needs a lot of water, organic mulch should be used to retain the moisture in the soil. pine bark mulch being careful to stay about 20 centimetres away from the tree trunk.

Watering – The Hass avocados, like all avo trees, are water-hungry. They need and want lots of water, especially when they’re young. In drier conditions, they may even need to be watered more than once a day. Mature fruiting plants can drink up to 75 litres of water a day. In normal conditions, you should be able to water it about 3 times a week.

Fertilising – Fertilise your avo tree with our slow release berry fertiliser (all plant fertiliser) which is a fertilisers high in nitrogen required for avocado trees. One teaspoon every 4-5 months and your tree will absorb the nutrients it requires.

Harvest: Avocado trees typically produce fruit within 2-3 years after planting, although this can vary depending on growing conditions. Hass avocados are typically harvested when they are still firm but yield slightly to gentle pressure. They will continue to ripen after being picked.

Suitability: Due to their smaller size, Dwarf Hass avocado trees are suitable for both urban and suburban environments where space may be limited. They will thrive in warm winter climates.
