Position
A tropical tree requiring full sun. Can be grown indoors in a large pot with bright light.
Soil Type
Well-draining soil. A healthy potting mix is suitable.
Water
Water regularly but do not overwater. Allow the soil to dry out between waterings.
Pruning
As with all trees, cut away dead and crossing branches to allow sunlight to penetrate all the leaves.
Fertilising
Apply fertiliser sparingly during the growing season to encourage healthy growth. Apply 1 teaspoon every 4-5 months of our slow-release nitrogen-rich all plant fertiliser. The plant roots will absorb what they need.
Mulch
Keep the soil mulched with Pine Bark Mulch to retain moisture, protect the plant’s roots from UV damage, and keep weeds at bay.
Pests & Diseases
Iodine trees can be susceptible to general pests and fungi. Agricultural Neem Oil or Effective Microorganisms (EM Control ).
Practice good garden hygiene (remove fallen fruit and leaves).
Watch for root rot (if overwatered) and fungal infections during wet periods.
Harvesting
As and when leaves are required.
