Cinderella Peach Tree Semi Dwarf

R240.00

The Cinderella peach tree (Prunus persica) is a variety known for its compact size and delicious fruit.

Like all peach trees, they require a few hours below 7°, meaning they can tolerate climates ranging from cooler to warmer regions.

Cinderella peach trees are semi dwarf varieties, reaching about 3m in height. This makes them suitable for small gardens or even container growing.

The peaches produced are usually medium-sized, with sweet, juicy flesh. They have red cheeks with yellow flesh and are great for fresh eating, canning, or baking.
The tree is known for its beautiful pink blossoms that appear in spring, making it an attractive addition to gardens.

Position:
These trees require full sun for optimal fruit production, ideally receiving 6-8 hours of direct sunlight daily.

Soil
They prefer well-drained, sandy loam soil with a pH of 6.0 to 7.0. Good drainage is essential to prevent root rot.

Watering

During the first year after planting, water deeply and regularly to help the roots establish. Provide about 1-2 inches of water per week, adjusting based on rainfall and soil moisture.

Once established, water deeply but infrequently, ensuring the soil is moist but not waterlogged. Monitor soil moisture and adjust watering as needed, especially during dry periods.

Fertilising

Apply our slow-release all-plant fertiliser. Apply 1 teaspoon every 4-5 months. The roots will absorb what they need.

Alternatively, apply a balanced fertiliser (such as 10-10-10) in early spring before new growth begins. Thereafter, fertilise annually in early spring.

Mulch

Add a thick layer of pine bark mulch, keeping it about 20-30 cm away from the tree trunk. This will keep the soil moist and keep the weeds at bay.

Pruning

Prune Cinderella Peach trees in late winter to early spring before buds swell. Remove dead, damaged, or diseased branches. Thin out the canopy to improve air circulation and light penetration, which helps prevent diseases and promotes fruit development.

Train the tree into a modified central leader or open-center shape for optimal fruit production.

Pests and Diseases

Aphids, citrus psylla, red scale, citrus greening. Spraying regularly with Agricultural Neem Oil or Effective Microorganisms (EM Control) will assist with prevention or after-the-fact control. If you already have aphids or mites, wash the tree with a harsh hosing, and when dry, spray with Neem oil or EM Control.

Practice good garden hygiene (remove fallen fruit and leaves).

Watch for root rot (if overwatered) and fungal infections during wet periods.

Thinning Fruit

Thin fruit in early summer when they are about the size of a dime to promote larger, healthier fruit and prevent branch breakage due to excessive weight.

Harvesting

Cinderella peaches are ready to harvest in mid-November to mid-December.
