Naartjie – Mandarin
R220.00The mandarin orange is sweet, juicy and delicious. What’s more, it grows easily in containers, which makes it ideal for homes with small gardens or patios. Relatively small in size, these fruits are sometimes known as kid-glove oranges or, in South Africa, naartjies. However, the naartjie is technically a Satsuma mandarin. These trees do not need to be pollinated by another tree and can bear fruit on their own.
Mandarin oranges have high levels of the vitamins C and A, and also contain dietary fibre, manganese and potassium.

Naartjie – Mineola Grafted
R220.00The minneola tree is a type of tangelo and a hybrid between a mandarin naartjie and a grapefruit. It is also known as a honeybell. The fruit is round with a dark-orange rind and a prominent neck. Minneolas are large, about the size of a fist.
They’re juicy and easier to peel than oranges, since their skin is a little looser.
They don’t self-fruit very easily, so they do best when interplanted with other good pollenisers like tangerines. They contain fibre, protein and vitamin C, which boosts the immune system and contributes to a more youthful skin.

Naartjie – Nova
R220.00The deep orange colour and distinctive sweetness of these medium-sized naartjies make them irresistible to fruit-lovers. They tend to have a thinner, tighter peel, so they are a little trickier to open than varieties with a loose skin. But, it’s well worth the extra effort for the delicious treat inside. Nova Naartjies are a cross between tangelo and clementine naartjies.
Like other naartjies, they offer vitamin C, fibre, and flavonoids. This means that they help with efficient digestion, reduce inflammation, and help to prevent cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and neurological diseases.
