We are often asked what a Tayberry is, and the answer is a cross between a Red Raspberry and a Blackberry. It has both good qualities of the original plants such as the large size and firmness of the fruit of the blackberry and the great taste and colour of the raspberry. It also looks like the blackberry and is a very vigorous growing shrub.
It is a creeper as per the raspberry and blackberry and a prolific fruiter. It will require a trellis or a fence to climb on.
The Tayberry is cold hardy and can tolerate low temperatures in winter. Well decomposed compost can be mixed in with the soil before planting. Fertilize in spring. Prune lightly in winter.
