Berries
Just a Few

Words About Us

At Just Berry Plants, we celebrate the magnificent variety and natural wealth of our land. For decades, it was believed that it wasn’t possible to grow fresh berries in most areas in South Africa.

But, with patience, time and years of experience, our farmer has learnt how to create the ideal growing environment for a variety of fresh berries. And we’re committed to sharing our insights and quality plants.

This Is Why

You Should Choose Us

Certified Experts

Our organic plants are carefully propagated and are treated for pests and diseases. Each plant is grown specifically for the South African climate. We even have deliciously sweet blueberries (known for needing cool conditions) that thrive in subtropical areas.

Quality Services

Our products are of superior quality and our service is personal and dedicated. We are available to advise and assist our customers from Monday to Sunday because we are committed to helping gardeners thrive and succeed.

Affordable Pricing

A new field for us is vertical gardens. Herbs and leafy greens are grown in pockets on a wall, fence or a stand. Once again, the whole concept is explained in detail.

Expert Advice

Customers are taught about the correct soils, position and care that each fruit or berry plant requires. This is followed up with an email and a step-by-step video clip showing how to plant their berries.

  • Black Raspberry

    R180.00

Grow in slightly acidic, well-drained soil with a PH level between 5.6 – 7.0. Full sun or partial shade.

Black raspberries can easily grow 3m in one year and bear fruit in the first season. Our Black raspberry variety has multiple fruit flushes but generally starts fruiting during the middle of the summer season around December and can continue right through winter if not too harsh.

They will thrive in moisture-retentive, fertile, slightly acidic soils, which are well-drained and weed free.

They dislike soggy soils and shallow chalky soils. For best results, plant in a sheltered, sunny position; although they will tolerate part shade.

Our Blueberry plants are self-pollinating but will bear a bigger yield and richer fruit if cross pollinated. They can be planted during any season, however, if planting in the hotter months, care must be taken to not let the roots dry out. They may go into shock during transit or replanting but are otherwise very resilient.
Cold hardy and can be container grown. We recommend approximately 50cm wide as the roots spread 60cm and to allow good drainage 50cm depth

Soil preparation is the same for both pot and garden planting. Minimum soils required Lithuanian or Canadian Spaghnum Peat Moss in a bag of Acid Compost. Berry fertiliser is recommended rather than any other products. Less is more for your Blueberry plants when it comes to fertilising.
